Malibu Pathway Community Showcase

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District will host its first Malibu Pathway Community Showcase on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Malibu High School. The event will feature Webster Elementary School, Malibu Elementary School, Malibu Middle School and Malibu High School, giving families and community members an opportunity to learn more about academics, arts, athletics, signature programs and partnerships across Malibu schools.
School leaders and staff will be available to share information about instructional programs, extracurricular opportunities and follow-up campus tours. The event is open to current and prospective families and community members.

Malibu Elementary School
Malibu Elementary School offers a close-knit learning environment rooted in transformative practices through its Explore, Enrich, Engage approach. Students benefit from active, hands-on learning, including project-based opportunities and frequent outdoor experiences such as walking trips to local tide pools. The instructional program includes English language arts, math, social studies and science, with differentiated instruction designed to meet the needs of each learner. Students participate in weekly art and music, a marine science program for all transitional kindergarten (TK)through fifth grade students and outdoor education experiences in fifth grade. Malibu Elementary also offers a robust after-school program, including the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu After School Program and Sea Lion Academy, a PTA and school partnership offering multiple sessions of enrichment and academic support throughout the year.

Webster Elementary School
Webster Elementary School combines rigorous academics with project-based learning and a schoolwide focus on transformative practices reflected in its Dare. Do. Discover. theme. Students engage in hands-on projects that build creativity and problem-solving, including the Botswana School Project, Mission to Mars and The Cereal Startup. Instruction in English language arts, math, science and social science is personalized through differentiated supports designed to help every student grow. Webster has been recognized in 2026 rankings by U.S. News and World Report and Niche. Students also participate in weekly visual arts and music in grades 3-5, along with signature experiences such as outdoor education trips, regenerative garden learning through Home Grown Gardens and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) and media literacy through Tech for Tomorrow, which integrates engineering, robotics, 3D modeling, coding and responsible technology use.

Malibu Middle School
Malibu Middle School provides a personalized, student-centered experience that supports academic growth, exploration and belonging during a key transitional stage. Students take core courses in English, math, science, social studies and physical education, with electives that include art, choir, band, orchestra, Spanish and French. The campus includes a full middle school library and after-school tutoring in math and language arts. Malibu Middle School athletics compete in the FIYA league and the Las Virgenes District, offering no-cost, no-cut programs that encourage participation and skill development. Students can join traveling teams in sports such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, flag football, tennis, esports, cheer, track and field, cross country and strength and conditioning. Partnerships with Pepperdine, the Boys and Girls Club Wellness Center and Parents of Middle Schoolers support students academically and socially, while student leadership and interest clubs create opportunities for involvement and connection.

Malibu High School
Malibu High School offers a rigorous and personalized learning experience grounded in small class sizes, strong teacher-student relationships and transformative practices that support academic excellence, emotional wellness and civic responsibility. Students engage in interdisciplinary project-based learning that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity and collaboration, supported by flexible learning spaces in the school’s campus design. Malibu High provides comprehensive course offerings that include Advanced Placement (AP), honors, career technical education and dual-enrollment courses through Santa Monica College, allowing students to earn college credit while in high school. Students also have access to after-school tutoring and a range of wellness supports through the Boys and Girls Club Wellness Center. The school’s restorative practices and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports framework help maintain a safe, supportive campus culture. Malibu High athletics include CIF-sanctioned sports, and the school’s visual and performing arts programs offer opportunities in areas such as visual art, ceramics, digital media, band, orchestra and theater.
